Emergency Disaster Shelter
Fourth Year
Spring 2021: Studio 4B
Urbanism
I started a case study by selecting and drawing an existing emergency disaster shelter to understand how the kit of parts is packaged and deployed. PVC plastic, steel, and metal are the material that I chose for the design since there is no information about the original material of the design; the accordion roof and sides of the shelter material are made of light plastic, so it would be easy to pull and push out to close and open it when it is closed the dimension of the length will change from 12 feet 4 inches to 4 feet. The base is folded up towards the wall of the shelter, which gives an ability to move it from one place to another. I made an animation to illustrate the deployment of the shelter.
Programs used: Rhino, illustrator, and Photoshop.
